Janss Marketplace welcomes new tenants

Thousand Oaks, CA (July 20, 2009) - NewMark Merrill Companies continues its successful tenant growth at Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks with the announcement of new leases. Subway Sandwich Shop opened this month, Lucky's Dog House will open during the fourth quarter, and Toys R Us signed a five year lease extension. 

Leasing Manager Darren Bovard represented NewMark Merrill Companies on the two restaurant leases.   Joe Ahearn, an experienced franchisee, with 10 other locations, signed a seven year Subway Sandwich Shop lease.  The 832 square foot Subway Sandwich Shop, which opened July 1, is located in the former Quizno's space in the center's remodeled Food Court near Mann Theater's and Gold's Gyn.   

Lucky's Dog House signed a 10-year lease for the approximately 552 square feet space, formerly occupied  by Frank's Char Broiler.  Lucky's Dog House, with a restaurant in Moore Park, will open its second location at the Janss Marketplace this fall.  The restaurant serves a delicious hot dog selection and a diverse menu which includes chili, hamburgers and other sandwiches.

Lucky's Dog House will be located near Rite Aid and Toys R Us, the national toy retailer which just extended its 43,000 square foot space lease. Brad Pearl, Co-Founder and Vice President of NewMark Merrill Companies negotiated the new lease with Toys R Us.

New Tenants at Janss Marketplace/ADD ONE

Janss Marketplace continues to attract new tenants with its location at the major intersection of Moorpark Road and Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks, directly across from The Oaks Mall.  The 47,952 daily traffic count at the intersection, and the Thousand Oaks location with 119,000 population makes it one of the most desirable retail locations in Southern California.  Thousand Oaks continually ranks as one of the safest U.S. cities for its size by FBI reporting standards.  

The mix of local, regional and national tenants adds to the center's success with name brands including Buca di Beppo, Daphne's, Panera Bread, Gold's Gym, Marshalls, Old Navy, Mann Theaters and TGI Friday's. 

Originally built as two separate centers in 1959, the property was redeveloped in 1995 by the Janss Family.  In 2001 the Janss Family sold the center to a group led by NewMark Merrill Companies and RPP.
