Baldwin Park, CA (March 19, 2014) – The Los Angeles Business Journal awarded NewMark Merrill Companies Park Plaza on Maine the Gold level award as Los Angeles’ “Best 2013 Retail Project.” The award was announced at the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 19th Annual Commercial Real Estate Award ceremony on Tuesday, February 18 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.
NewMark Merrill Companies brought new life to Park Plaza on Maine, a 165,000 square foot shopping center in Baldwin Park, California, through a full scale remodel which commenced mid-September, 2012. NewMark Merrill Companies spent over $2.50 million dollars on the project, which followed the 2011 opening of Superior Grocers, which the company helped entitle and remodel. The center remodel included new pylon and monument signage along Ramona Boulevard and Maine Avenue, new street front retailers along Maine Avenue and the entire center was updated with brand new facades for the inline buildings and many common area updates including outdoor seating area and a dynamic water feature.
The center is well positioned on Ramona Blvd. and Maine Ave. with an average traffic count of 44K cars daily. Brad Pearl, Vice President of Leasing and Development and Luca Giovanardi, Director of Development & Construction for NewMark Merrill Companies oversaw the entire remodel and oversight of the contractor for NewMark Merrill Companies. Keith Coffman, DLR Group WWCOT provided the architectural services for the site design, and the project was built by Brett Crail, W.L. Butler Construction, Inc. Park Plaza on Maine is anchored by Superior Grocers and CVS/Pharmacy and home to many other great retailers, including: Chase, Little Caesars, Check N’ Go and O’Reilly Auto Parts and Menchie’s Yogurt. Other tenants include Subway, El Pollo Loco, Allstate Insurance and many more.

Park Plaza on Maine, which is adjacent to the City Hall complex and Cruz Baca Transit Center Metrolink Station, is a part of the City of Baldwin Park’s vision to revitalize Baldwin Park’s Civic center area by creating a main street environment.
